PicoScope PicoBNC ® NVH Diagnostics Kit

Bearing swapped. Drone's still there.

NVH diagnostics locates the actual source of noise and vibration — so you fix the right part, first time.

Sound familiar?

Every workshop has been here. The customer complaint is real, the diagnosis seems right, the part gets swapped — and the noise is still there.

Wheel bearing swapped. Drone hasn't changed.
Misdiagnosed bearing side is one of the most common NVH errors. The drone continues at speed because the vibration source was never on the side you replaced.

Mounts replaced. Vibration's still there.
Engine and gearbox mount replacements for vibration are a common speculative fix. When the vibration persists, there's no obvious next step — just cost already sunk.

Charged for the last fix. Rattle's still there.
The customer has paid and now expects a free redo. Rattles are the most common vague NVH complaint, and the hardest to pin down without measurement.

Ran every diagnostic. No fault codes. Still runs rough.
Scan tools find electrical faults. They can't find mechanical ones. When the tool gives you nothing, NVH diagnostics picks up where electronics leave off.

From guesswork to measurement

Every vibration has a frequency. That frequency tells you the source. The software does the matching — you get a straight answer.

1. Measure

Accelerometers and microphones capture vibration and sound data during a road test or static run-up.

2. Identify

The software matches frequencies to vehicle components — wheels, engine orders, propshaft, bearings — and tells you which one is responsible.

3. Confirm

Objective data replaces subjective opinion. Show the customer the measurement, compare against a known-good baseline, and proceed with confidence.

4. Verify

After the repair, re-test with the same setup. The data proves the fix worked — to you and to the customer.

Faster set-up. Fewer test cycles. Better results.

Every vibration has a frequency. That frequency tells you the source. The software does the matching — you get a straight answer.

Twelve axes:  Four corners, one test
Each three-axis accelerometer captures fore-aft, lateral, and vertical vibration through a single PicoScope channel. Four accelerometers on a four-channel scope covers every corner of the vehicle in one road test. Previously, this required multiple passes with reconfiguration between each.

Simple connection: Easy setup
The PicoBNC NVH setup from Pico requires no additional leads or boxes. Simply plug the lead into one of the BNC ports of the PicoScope osilloscope and you're ready to test.

Zero config: Plug in, start testing
PicoBNC automatic probe recognition means the software identifies each probe on connection and applies correct settings. No manual entry of probe type or sensitivity values. One less step to get wrong, one fewer source of unreliable results.

No battery: Always ready
PicoBNC NVH probes are battery-free. No dead CR123 cells before a road test. No replacement stock to manage. No servicing downtime. The probe is ready when you are.

No registration: No activation codes
Use straight out of the box with any automotive PicoBNC PicoScope.

Propshaft balancing

When NVH diagnosis points to a propshaft vibration, rebalancing on the vehicle is faster and cheaper than replacement. The software guides you through every step.

Guided, on-vehicle balancing

The PicoDiagnostics balancing software, combined with the PQ316 optical sensor kit, measures shaft vibration and calculates exactly where to add weight and how much. No specialist equipment. No removal required.

✓ Pinion flange method — add weights to existing flange holes
✓ Hose clamp method — clamp weights to the shaft directly
✓ Step-by-step software wizard with graphical guidance
✓ Before-and-after measurement to confirm the fix

This capability was previously only available in manufacturer facilities or specialist workshops. The optical balancing kit makes it accessible to any independent workshop with an NVH kit.
